| Brief Introduction |
Tongji University, which was established in 1907 is a general university processing 9 academic categories as science, technology, medicine, literal art, law, philosophy, economics, management and education. She is one of the key universities directly under National Education Ministry. Tongji University originated from German Medical School, which was broken ground by a German doctor in Shanghai while “Tongji” means cooperation and helping each other.
Tongji Hospital started business in 1991 and was evaluated as Class A of Grade Ⅲ (Ⅲ-A) general hospital by National Health Ministry.
Tongji Hospital locates in northwest of Shanghai close to inner and out circle way and occupied an area of 50,000 m2. She has 700 beds (1000 beds after phase two engineering finished) and the staff of more than 1200, including 130 faculties. The hospital is well equipped with MRI, screw CT, PET-ECT, DSA, linear accelerator and other advanced equipments.
The hospital has completed department including cardiology, orthopedics, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, endocrinology, pediatric hematology, psychiatry, obstetric and gynecology, clinical laboratory, dermatology, imaging. As the educational institute for Bachelor, Master and MD, she undertakes lots of scientific research projects such as 863 Project, National Science foundation and other projects supported by Ministry or municipal government. The hospital is also responsible for editing Journal of Stomatologic and Maxillofacial Surgery. She has set up abroad relationship with foreign universities and hospitals.
As the youngest IIIA hospital within Shanghai as well as affiliated hospital of Tongji University, Tongji Hospital procured speeding development with the extraordinary energy on the way to the top modernized hospital.
